cleaning hedders

Q: I have the ceramic coated Hedman Hedders on my 1970 Chevelle. A leakly valve cover allowed oil to get on the hedder and stained it. Can this be cleaned and by what method(s).

A: You can use fine steel wool and a solvent like mineral spirits, acetone or Simple Green. Nevr-Dull polish also works well. Just be sure not to be too rough on them because you will rub through the coating. Do NOT use any caustic or corrosive chemicals.
