Remote oil filter bases are mounted to the firewall, fenderwell, frame, or any sturdy, out of the way location, allowing for easier oil changes. While many times this is done for mere speed or convenience, there are a number of engine or component swap projects that require the relocation of your engine's oil filter.
Remote oil filter bases, by themselves, are Universal fit and can be used on any engine. The filter size referenced in this section refers to the filter that remote base uses, NOT the filter size of the engine. Filter bypass adapters are engine specific, remote bases are not. This doesn't lock you into a single filter option. If you have a SB Ford engine that has been greatly modified, you may choose to run an HP4 model base to increase the filtering surface area and increase the amount of oil in the system.
To complete the installation, these remote filter bases require fittings, hoses and an oil filter bypass adapter, which is engine specific. If you require a complete oil filter relocation system, visit our Complete Oil Filter Relocation System page.
